I am excited to connect with my reading audience and look forward to visiting your school or library. The programs I offer have been developed for preschool children through upper elementary.

Meet the Author (All grades)All of my programs begin with Meet the Author. I introduce myself, share my work, talk about where my ideas come from, and read Supersister.

Super You! (PreK-2)Children explore the many things that are 'super' about themselves through an activity creating their own book jacket. Using a Supersister template, each child illustrates a jacket substituting their unique super quality: Superfriend, Superartist, etc.

Young Authors (Kindergarten and up)In Supersister, illustrator Frank W. Dormer drew Supersister reading a book titled, The Ball, to her dog. Using a big board, the children and I write a simple story for The Ball emphasizing the importance of strong verb choice. For younger children, I use a verb grab-bag. Children may add illustrations and/or their autograph (with permission). I then 'publish' their story on my website.

Precision Revision (Grade 3 and up)This workshop concentrates on three revision techniques: time, space, and precision. The children learn the importance of taking time away from a first draft before they revise, revising their work in a space different than their writing space, and the importance of precision in their writing from structure to word choice. (Program requires children to have completed a short first draft prior to the workshop.)
